Unexpectedly great

The storyline and characters were very unique. Really enjoyed this read and the history and the romance.

This book was by far the best romance book I’ve ever read. It wasn’t too cheesy, repetitive, or lacked plot. It had as much plot as romance and the characters were amazingly built. I recommend this 110% to anyone!

Kudos to Kleypas early works

Before starting this book I read the beginning authors note and learned that Ms. Kleypas wrote this story during her college years. It was one of her first stories and I'd have to say it's my favorite so far!! Heath is a man you can't help but fall in love with and as much as Lucy struggles to deny him she can't. You will enjoy reading about their love story from beginning to end!

This was a very quick read. I loved it from the very beginning. The story is well thought out and is a nice change from the "typical" historical fiction books I love to read!

Worth it in the end

I have always loved her books. I didn't recognize her later work here though. Sometimes I felt it was more of a history lesson. Further onto the story the characters show more depth and the emotions pick up. re

I was not surprised that I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I always look for anything by Lisa Kleypas. I was hoping that Raine and Damon would be thrown together....

Outstanding historical with strong characters and relationships. Cin and Heath have roller coaster ups and downs and the pride issues holding back true love are overcome without making either appear foolish or selfish. One day stay with it till done page turner. aftermath of Civil War in Concord NH and Boston handled well.
